custom craft#2

sadly, custom craft#2 and all subsequent crafts are on hold. my poor little christmas sewing machine has been giving me some difficulty so i'm waiting until a sewing machine adept friend of mine can come over and diagnose the problem. until then i'm left to stare at my pile of craft material and try to suppress the itch to get to work. much to my pleasure getting the house cleaned after our recent decent into sickness and my 15 outside project have been keeping me very busy.

my sad pile of craft materials.

they want to be made in to a garland so bad.

just waiting...

15 outside

feeling inspired by a little blurb i read about a book called Fifteen Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to get Outside and Connect with Your Kids and i'm itching to read it. looks like the release date is on track for march 1st of this year. instead of waiting till march to see what tips rebecca cohen has for me, i decided to jump head long into the project and start getting into the outdoor action. we are a very active family but it seems like we wait for the perfect day before trekking outside. i like the idea that every day is the "perfect" day for going out and playing. i definitely think we can benefit from a little more fresh air. so starting today i am going to try my hardest every day to put a few pictures from our 15 outside!

ronan wasn't feeling well today but i'm hoping he will feel up to joining us tomorrow.

heart sutra

Gaté, gaté, paragaté, parasamgaté. Bodhi! Svaha!

Which means...

Gone, gone, gone over, gone fully over. Awakened! So be it!

boys and snakes

something there, even at the age of 10 months, that draws boys to snakes like magnets

so much love

ice ornaments

found this amazing idea for outdoor-ice-baubles while going through the blogs i follow. since everyone at my house has an upset tummy this will be a fun and easy craft to do while we are all house bound today. can't wait to see our little tree covered in these gems!

the cardinal cat

custom craft #1

first custom craft done and the finished product turned out beautifully. wish i could post a picture for you guys but i don't want jess over at jessadphotography to get a sneak peak of what i'm dropping off at her house this morning! got a temporary logo designed i just need to get a copy printed off at the library. i think for now i'll just put inserts into my packaging and work on getting a stamp made at a later date. can't have too many irons in the fire. tonight i'll be working on custom craft #2 after all the kids are in bed.

it feels good to be headed in a more craft oriented direction. i've always had a project going or some craft thought up in my head but to actually be following through and completing as many projects as i have over the months gives me a real sense of accomplishment. i started doing as many projects as i could to fill my time in the evenings when the kids were asleep and keith was deployed. now it just feels natural to have several different projects going in various spots around the house. with my nifty new craft sewing machine i can get even more things done faster. looking forward to a little quiet time this evening so i can break out the sewing machine(who needs a name by the way!) and concentrate on the task at hand.

it's my therapy.

crafting for friends

due to a post on facebook i have received 4 commissions for something handcrafted. broke out the sewing machine this evening and started my first project. while working i got to thinking that i should have a logo or something if i was going to be making and giving away this many pieces  of my handiwork. i think i'm going to craft under my blog name, the cardinal cat. been scouring the internet for pictures of compasses and cat heads and i think i have finally narrowed it down. now to find a way to make a stamp of my logo or stickers. does any know some one who custom makes stamps?
