wild geese

today this poem just spoke to me...

Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

bringing up bebe

went to one of my favorite blogs A CUP OF JO: How to raise kids like a French woman and really want to check out this book, bringing up bebe, about raising kids like a french woman. a lot of the tidbits i read sound like things i already try to do but i would be interested to see if there's anything i could add to my parenting arsenal. would you read this book?

the month of love

read How to Fall in Love – Yogi Style for some blissed out tips for filling your life with more love and sharing it with others. happy valentine's day!

making egg rolls...i hope.

saw some egg roll wrappers at the grocery store last night so i tossed them in the cart. making egg rolls is something i've always wanted to do but have never tried. like rod stewart says, "tonight's the night!"

googled "how to make egg rolls" and i really liked the name for this chef's blog, a sweet pea chef, so i clicked it. How to Make Egg Rolls | a sweet pea chef has easy directions, pretty common ingredients, and stunning pictures. i can only HOPE that mine come out looking this good. maybe while i'm enjoying my egg rolls tonight i can browse through the rest of her blog and find some more yummy goodies to make. what are you cooking for dinner tonight?

rainbow falls

finally developed my film from our april hike of rainbow falls in jones gap state park, sc. i felt like i was back in the foothills surrounded by rhododendrons. i will never forgot the feeling of awe that filled my body from the soles of my feet to the top of my head when we came around the bend and rainbow falls was right in front of me. what a rush!

due to not labeling my film as i was using it, i ended up with a giant grab bag of 120 film that i've been sending off to the darkroom. it's almost like christmas when i get an email in my inbox telling me my film's been developed, who knows what i'm going to find.

note to self...need more film. should i take the plunge and try black and white? for some reason i find that so much more intimidating then straight color film.
