finding himself...

more and more often i find myself watching atticus accomplish major feats on his own instead of holding his hand and helping him overcome obstacles. he is learning more about himself as he ventures out on his own, the journey has just begun.

and with that he made it across a fallen log that's taller than i am. i have to admit my heart was in my throat the whole time but he was determined to do it and he did.

asian noodle salad

i just made this Asian Noodle Salad | The Pioneer Woman Cooks | Ree Drummond over at the pioneer woman cooks web site and it was amazing. i substituted a few things that either i didn't have or didn't want to use but i stuck to the bones of the recipe and it ended up great.

Blueberry-Cucumber Smoothie Recipe

this Blueberry-Cucumber Smoothie Recipe is soooo delish! just made it for the first time today and i'm enjoying it right now. the cukes add a level of wetness to the smoothie making it very refreshing and restorative. i've never added lemon to a smoothie recipe before but what a difference! i was emailed this recipe a few days ago in my daily 21 day yoga challenge emails and i set it aside to make. i think i know what i'm having for breakfast the next couple mornings. thank goodness my bountiful basket from last week had a couple cucumbers in it. if you have all these ingredients in your cupboard you should seriously make yourself one of these blueberry smoothies, your body will thank you.

cozy cabin

this is most assuredly my ideal home. sometimes i like to close my eyes and pretend like there's no other houses near mine and my home is this sweet cottage nestled in the woods. one day!

come join the 21 day yoga challenge

i'm on the 5th day of the 21 day yoga challenge over at social workout. i've never used the site before but what a great way to connect people around the world toward a common goal while forming a support system. it's been nice to meet people who share an interest and passion in yoga, something i haven't really been able to find bumping into people here on the base. i know it's going to feel good to complete my goal and hopefully create a long and lasting relationship with my mat. namaste!

desire to inspire - K-studio

desire to inspire - desiretoinspire.net - K-studio

another gorgeous house over on the blog desire to inspire. i find it really interesting that my style has evolved almost 160 degrees from just a few years ago. i'm in love with clean lines, white, and lots of wood. seeing pictures from homes i've lived in before this one, i'm blown away with how MUCH stuff is everywhere. i sometimes feel like i'm drowning with the little bit that i own now. how we change!

the darkroom

just received the prints from my first ever developed rolls of film from my holga. i am shaking with excitement! why is no one here with me to be excited with me?! here's a look at my budding holga photographic skills. i think i got a couple really cool shots in there. can't wait to send in the other rolls. thank you so much to the dark room for getting the developed quickly and for even developing 120 film in the first place. you guys rock!

love this coffee press! got it for camping but i wanted to try it out before our next trip. loved it so much i'm using it daily at home. it's replaced my glass coffee shop french-press. keeps the coffee warmer than my glass one and looks great. had a few friends over for breakfast yesterday and they were all asking questions about it and admiring it. so easy to clean and i like the extra filter in the pour spout to catch any stray grinds that might escape the press filter. the spout pours well and i haven't had a drip yet.

happy new year!

it's hard to believe how warm it's been in the new year but we aren't complaining. after school and on the weekends we've been taking quick trips over to hanson-larson memorial park to better enjoy the weather. i'm so thankful that rapid city, south dakota has as many family friendly outdoor activities as it does. who would have thought 3 years ago we would be loving our new home this much we would end up becoming residents of the state!
